Featured Artist at the de Young Museum

San Francisco de Young Museum, celebrating World Poetry Day

  • TimeSaturday, March 25, 11 am to 2 pm (lunch break from noon to 1 pm).
  • Location: permanent collection galleries
  • AdmissionFree

de Young Museum and The Last Hoisan Poets (TLHP) co-host this event, and I will be a featured artist and guest of TLHP to present Yin Mountain at de Young, along with five other guest groups. TLHP are so inspired by my book and the three Tang Daoist women poets that they plan to read these translated poems in English at de Young, in dialogue with some of their contemporary poems inspired by Yin Mountain. I will give introductions and read the originals in Chinese as the translator.

Together, we welcome you to consider how poetry builds bridges that bring people together. Practiced throughout history – in every culture and on every continent – poetry speaks to our common humanity and our shared values. The simplest of poems can be a powerful catalyst for dialogue and peace.
