Looking back to three weeks ago, I had no way to know that I needed to factor a public health crisis into my plans. Yet what is upon us is upon us. In a time of unexpected changes and unpredictable future like this, it is very natural to feel vulnerable or uncertain. It’s also very easy to let those feelings become fear, worries, or anxiety. There is no shame in feeling afraid for ourselves or our loved ones in this situation, just like there is no shame in being worried or anxious. We can channel these feelings into doing the best we can to prepare and respond according to the official health guidelines. We also have a choice to breathe, introspect, and stay with an open heart.
Is that perhaps easy to say but hard to do? Things are constantly changing, and the future is always unpredictable, but that reality still bites when it’s suddenly in our faces like these days. We are in this together, and going through it with wisdom and strength starts with turning our attention inwardly. Let’s remember to breathe, accept how we feel, and choose the prepared openness. We are all connected.
May you be well, safe, and at peace.
